How did you burn the chip? USB short circuit? Poorly designed powered USB hub?
How about trying LTC3548 which may be more easily available? |

Reset to factory if all fails.
using extension cable: Use a good quality USB cable as LOM rightly pointed. If that doesn't help use a good quality powered USB hub. |

Antenna cannot differentiate B/G vs N, it should work for anything on 2.4 GHz irrespective of standards.
Edit: Read the detailed specs N is mentioned there |
