WPA2 works fine for me with V24 SP1. Has always worked since much earlier beta builds.

Maybe an incomparability with your hardware/software? Upgrade you wireless drivers on your pc/laptop.

Is the modem setup to do DHCP as well? If so there maybe a conflict.

What do the modem logs say, are you losing sync with your isp?

Is this PPPoE? If so, Is the modem doing PPPoE or the router?

I personally have seen no reduction in internet performance of the router with DD-WRT. Then again I'm using a Buffalo WHR-G54S not a linksys.

I've only ever used the port forwarding with DD-WRT. But if you have multiple ports to forward then port range forwarding seems like the way to go.

You guys might want to do what I did and replace your WRT54G >= V5/6/7/8 with a Buffalo WHR-G54S with a 4dBi HGA and DD-WRT v2.3 SP2 (or in my case the following):
