It's in nvserial Broadcom's proprietary binary. But you can "cheat" to find out how it works. Use tools from my archive....

No! You can't just edit NVRAM area (from 0x400, length 0x1000) in CFE bin image. There is CRC checking. We must use nvserial for that.

Otherwise, CFE will never leave an emergency mode.

Why don't they go to the full 128k maximum available?

Maybe it is sort of like SSD where they use part of the chip as replacement cells for the other part, increasing the lifetime of the flash memo ...

You might want to jump to a later build... That build you have is extremely old.

The recommended build, as per the sticky post, is 14929 - you have 12548.

PPPoE was working fine for me with build 108 (was a bit quirky with build 102).

I switched to cable a few weeks ago however.
