Its not really necesary if you follow the correct procedure for resetting the nvram using 30-30-30 method.

I had this same issue with mine (build 17201). I suggest that you try a 30-30-30 wipe again. If that doesnt work, then go in, disable both radios, reboot, re-enable both radios.

I would go ahead and upgrade to the latest recommended version per peacock thread. Please make sure to read that thread carefully to find a proper build for your router.
