I am still unable to solve this problem.

I entered the startup script as follows using the address that the tap0 was using at the time

I have found a solution. I realise now that I must set my 2nd router as a client and not a client bridge.

I have a Linksys E3000 set up at home as my main router.

I also have a 2nd router which is a WRT54GS flashed with DD-WRT.

I have been able to set the WRT54GS as a client bridge to the main router ...

Thanks for the help guys.
The command you gave me sorted the job.
I will hardly ever reset the router so I don't mind typing in the command every time I do to change the MAC address.

I have just flashed a WRT54GS V5.1
The process went through OK but I didn't realise until afterwards that I had to create a custom VX image so that I don't have a generic MAC address. ...
