As more people ask me to update their WRT54GLs I'm getting a handfull of original Hynix RAM chips (the 16MB ones).

Are they of any value for the WRT54Gv5 users?
Is it possible to use them there?

I got the MT46V32M16-5B chip from a Kingston KVR400X64SC3A/256 SoDIMM DDR module.

I believe - any four-chip module will do.

If you do not have any industial-grade soldering station - follow [url=htt ...

Yes, right, on the very first power-up an unmodified NVRAM and MT46V32M16 will give you 32MB only.

Editing the NVRAM as shown above and power-cycling the box again will give you the whole 64MB of RAM ...

Both v1.0 and v1.1 (supposedly - WRT54G v2.0~4.0 too) can be upgraded with the Micron's MT46V32M16 chip.

Without any further messing you'll have 32MB.

After doing
nvram set sdram_init = 0x0113
nvram ...

I've just soldered the MT46V32M16 and only 32MB are available...
Isn't MT46V32M16 a DDR SDRAM chip?
Sorry, probably I do not understand your question.

My WRT54GL v1.0 works fine with the MT46V32M16 c ...

the same here with WRT54GS, WRT54GL and buffalo WHR-HP-G54
My WRT54GL v1.0 with OpenWRT RC6 works fine with WPA2-Enterprize: I am able to control the SSID broadcasts properly.

No, I'm not debricking it (yet), I'm going to replace the FLASH chip now.
(BTW, the RAM upgrade was half-successfull: from the 64MB expected I see only 32MB available...)

There are no RH2, RH3, RH4, RH5, RH7, RG1 resistors soldered close to the connector placeholder.
Only the RH8 is there (4k7).

Do I need to solder them to be able to use JTAG?

I have just replaced the original Hynix HY5DU281622ET-J chip with the Micron's 46V32M16-5B F (the smallest SDRAM I could find).

I expected to be having the full 64MB, but instead I have only half o ...
