How do you open this router anyway? Flathead or Philips screwdrivers don't fit the screws on the bottom.

Is there a DIY for the Serial connection flashing as well?

I bought one yesterday and luckily it's V1.1. I put dd-wrt r17201, and so far no quirks.

This router can be had for $20-25 in Canada, so it's good value for the money. If your looking for a budget ...

Check:

Setup > Connection Type

I found mines was set to disabled when I flashed dd-wrt for the first time. I changed it to automatic configuration-dhcp and wan started working.

I hastily installed r17990 and ended with a bricked unit as well. Can I use tftp method to recover, or will I have to purchase a jtag or serial cable?

I have wrt160n v1. I flashed it dd-wrt the day I got it. I put dd-wrt v24sp1 mini, and then standard. Using it for 2 weeks now, and so far no problems.
