I've been trying to accomplish the same thing, if anyone has learned anything new.

People have been asking about this for more than a year. Devs, are you under an NDA or something?

He does have a point though. I think there are builds that have never been successfully installed without bricking the device. Typically a beta can be expected to work at least somewhat, for someone. ...

It is not a stable release, the download page says BETA. You are going to have some bumps along the way. The latest build that worked, for me anyway, was 030309.

If it can help anyone out, here is my modified Makefile for squashfs-tools. The original Makefile wouldn't build on 32-bit platforms, or make unsquashfs-lzma, only unsquashfs.

DoesItMatter, I don't think you would need any specific version of linux. It seems to me, any popular distribution should be fine.

If you don't have a linux box handy, you could even use a linux live ...
