First of all, ipkg doesn't work well on the WNDR3700. It is possible to get it working, but requires quite some changes in the filesystem. You should stick with optware and opkg, which does work.

I don't know which build you are using, I know some of the builds have an issue with automouting an USB-drive at startup. At the moment I'm using build r15962.
