Just tried that setting - it appeared to slow down the transfer a bit, still rebooted 5 or so seconds after it completed straight into dd-wrt.

The only options I know of in DD are either resetting via the WebUI, using 'nvram erase && reboot' via telnet/ssh, or the reset button for around ~10 seconds or so while the router is powered ... | |

Did you reset the router after flashing and configure the stock firmware from scratch to see if that is the case?
