Version is not listed on the box, so I bought it anyway. Came home and saw it is V2, checked website and only V1 listed, downloaded the bin files and tried to flash, no go.

There is no TPLink English Firmware for WR840N. Only English version for WR841N.

1. What you can do is flash it with DD-WRT.
2. Then Flash it with English Official firmware for WR841N.

ya... all my Aetheros DDWRT has client-bridge-routed
while broadcom DDWRT only has "client-bridge" notation.

and why would DDWRT dev-team have to use "client-bridge-routed"??? ...

Hook it up? Sure why not.

Will it work? NO.

USB powered webcam are "dump" devices. they dont have any intelligence into it, they need a host machine (PC) to control em. And I doubt you ...
