Is your router pingable? the single static on the PPPoE connection?

Do a traceroute from a 3rd party, nwtools.com or something similiar, seeing where the trace stops.

Your local LAN traffic should work regardless of the VPN, as it is not routed.

Which SSH client are you using?

From my experience,

HomeGroup issues are almost all IPv6 issues > HomeGroup doesn't use IPv4, if that will narrow down what fixed it.
