This works for me everytime, if you're on the right starting firmware, i.e., stock -> DD-WRT, DD-WRT -> stock and use the correct extensions, it hasn't failed me.

I only use it for 1 PC, so hopefully not too much trouble. And it looks like the issue was having both 2.4 and 5 set as repeater. Only set 2.4 to client bridge and its ok
