Just managed to fix my problem.
Needed to disable IPv6.
Apparently that causes some problems with various routers.

Hmm...my PC with Vista64 has IPV6 on by default and it still connects at 1.0 Gbps.

If all you want it another lan port, plug the cable into the WAN port of the router and set the router to another subnet. Leave dhcp enabled and you are done.

Otherwise, you should be able to plug it ...

There may be a way to do a LAN-LAN connection between the two routers - i.e., to have all the devices under 192.168.1.XXX. I think dslreports has a suggested setup in the FIOS forum.
