The K2.6 builds possibly have a soft brick issue, and if you are selecting "reset to defaults after flashing" (which is broken), you are shooting yourself in the foot.

I don't know what you're doing wrong, and I have no idea why you would revert from K3.x to K2.6 without going back to stock firmware first. You can recover from a bad flash on the E4200 (sometimes). ...

I've never heard of having to short any pins to get TFTP to work.

-------tftp will not be successful, while it's bricked, without shorting the 2 pins. after you do this, tftp works flawlessly.

Well I had to unbrick the router by shorting 2 pins as shown here: https://youtu.be/tVxlBhJEfRo

After doing this I could easily TFTP the factory firmware to it. Without shorting it would not allow ...

I don't think it would have a separate firmware image folder if it didn't matter.

Thanks for your suggestion. I have looked thru the threads on builds from 42847 back to 42542
for posts on NetGear routers particularly 7000, 6400v2 & 6300v2.
Knowing the first build ...
