Netgear WNDR3700v4 (dd-wrt install notes)

Netgear firmware V1.0.1.52 seems to have a problem going to dd-wrt.
I've tried this on two WNDR3700v4 with stock firmware V1.0.1.52 and it will
not load dd-wrt 23503 wndr3700v4-factory.img
Apparently this is a bastard firmware -- I've never seen it on Netgear's site.

First update to Netgear V1.0.2.80 (.zip file attached w/release notes)
you must be logged in to see attachments

Then you can --
Following the wiki --> http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_WNDR3700
Install dd-wrt 23503 wndr3700v4-factory.img
Then you can go to any dd-wrt wndr3700v4-webflash.bin ( the 29519_04/25/16 works well )

I've had no issues switching between stock and DD-WRT firmware. But as you note, the stock firmware I've used recently with my WNDR3700v4 is V1.0.2.78. Direct from Netgear, not some rogue firmware. Wink

I don't have the v1.0.1.52
It was installed on a couple boxes I recently picked up.
Some thrown-off mess Netgear shipped some with I reckon

... So I unplugged it and plugged it back.

Waited 5 mins for the router to fully boot up and all to get all green lights.

Went to 192.168.1.1 and viola got the DDWRT login screen !!!

Question - The DDWRT screen is asking me to change the default USERNAME and PASSOWRD .... Do i do a 30/30/30 reboot first or should I change the username/password.

Thanks.

Set UID & PW ..... if you feel the need to reset that router do it thru the GUI or telnet
,...... it should be fine. I recommend installing latest build 29816
.... carry on --- don't break it... it's a good box,

One more question please ...

When you say "upgrade to the latest build 29816" do you mean that I get the file for my WNDR3700v4 section (http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Netgear_WNDR3700)

and install the file:

"Web Flash BIN: ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/06-02-2016-r29816/netgear-wndr3700v4/wndr3700v4-webflash.bin"

using the DDWRT from the "Firmware Upgrade" section ?

Thank you.

Yea that looks like it..

I'll also suggest to do some study ... lots reading up ...on dd-wrt before you get too far along.
It's not hard but there are do's & dont's when playing with it.

Any further questions...after you have searched for yourself....you need to open new post.

Good luck
