After flashing to Kong's newest version DD-WRT v3.0-r29670M kongat (05/15/16)
I cannot get https-connection with self signed certificate to the device anymore. http works fine though.
With "r29510M kongat" it was no problem. I used the following startup command and did copy and paste from the old configuration. Any ideas?

Today I updated my EA8500 from DD-WRT v3.0-r29510M kongat (04/24/16) to the newest version (05/15/16) from Kong's site.
Now it is impossible to connect to the device. 30/30/30 reset didn't help.
Any ideas to solve this without serial cable?
Faced the same issue and had to use the on/off 3 times with a few seconds in-between method to revert back.
On serial output, it was crashing and rebooting at this point:

I tried the standard build and the King one, the latests, I dont have the radius tab anymore under wireless. Was that part not ported yet or they moved it somewhere else ?
Edit: well I typed Wireless_radauth.asp manually and it worked. Will test this first !!
non us version yes, if its a us version maybe..but after unbricking mine i had a thought, since it was by serial connection using tftp, i wonder if that method would bypass & overwrite the encrypted firmware..since flashing/unbricking that way is before the firmware even boots. but too afraid to update mine to latest stock fw to try it (assuming EA8500-CA is = to us version)
@tatsuya46 I just managed to install DD-WRT on my signed EA8500 following the procedures specified on the forum, but to consolidate I'll put the steps right here:
2) Fire up Putty using the following settings
115200 baud rate
8 bit data
parity none
1 bit stop
control flow none
3) As soon as u-boot starts press a key to enter interactive boot (if pressing a key does not work MAKE SURE CONTROL FLOW IS SET TO NONE, this was my case)
4) Connect your computer to ethernet port 1 of the router
5) Set your ip address to 192.168.1.2
6) execute: ping 192.168.1.2 to make sure the router can connect to your computer
7) Start a tftpd server using that ip (192.168.1.2) poiting to DD-WRT img file
Execute the following
setenv image EA8500-factory-to-ddwrt.img
setenv ipaddr 192.168.1.1
setenv serverip 192.168.1.2
run flashimg
run flashimg2
9) Execute: reset
10) From your computer connect to 192.168.1.1 and you'll see DD-WRT on all its glory!
Thanks everyone, you have been very helpful, the stock signed image was driving me nuts.
After using this build for a while, I've notice some repeating problems. Could be me setting something wrong though.
Some devices work fine (older Android phone). But, Apple devices don't seem to have great range and family members are reading me the riot act over dropped connections.
The construction of our house includes steel beams which has always caused issues for wireless. But, I was using an R7500 with stock firmware that seemed to perform better than the ea8500 with dd-wrt...

well r29770m seems to have fixed the latency spikes with intel ac 7260 nic. ath10k 10.4 still not updating noise floor automatically but 10.2.4 does. _________________ LATEST FIRMWARE(S)
