Hi there guys

Brand new to this forum and wrt. I had 2x Linksys wag300n fail on me so they upgraded me to a WRT350N - very nice so far, and powerful to

My questions are:
What is best dd-wrt or open-wrt - I know this is a dd-wrt forum
Secondly what does not work in dd-wrt regarding the wrt350n

I want to install the dd-wrt stuff but not to sure if I must. I do not want to loose functions of the unit

Any answers are very much appreciated

Thanks

I know how a forum works and did read all that stuff. I just wanted to make sure if there is not something major that I missed. Wanted some response from somebody with one.

Thanx anyway

Hi there again

The "v1 only" mentioned for the wrt350n, is that hardware or firmware version. How do you check the hardware version of a WRT350N? When I go to my routers GUI I see Firmware Version V2.001 in the top right hand corner. Is this the v1 that is refer to in the forum?

look at this label. if there is a v2 in it, it is a v2. if not, it is a v1

You have a WRT350N V2 I'm afraid. Which, unfortunately, is not supported by dd-wrt.

The information on the wrt350n is very vague on the net. Any pointers much appreciated

Linksys has a history of making a good router,
then making many cheap changes to it - making it an inferior/bad router.

However - Linksys does not change the model number, so people buy the inferior/bad router based on reviews from people who own the earlier good versions of the router.

Once I became aware of Linksys's policy of bait and switch,
I decided to never buy another Linksys product again.

@HowardZ,

Yes we know your stance on Linksys routers :)

@schneidermeister,

There is a guy who made a custom version of the Linksys firmware which had telnetd enabled, but thats about it.
