I chose this option in v24 beta on my WHR-G54S ( overclock to 216mhz) and now my router doesn't work.

It's the 6/20/2007 build, and it WAS stable, but running slow. The Wiki page said 216Mhz was a stable overclock for it, and yet another wiki page suggested trying it to improve throughput performance for it, as my network had started lagging.

Anyone else have this problem? I looked and found no other pages about it...

I confirmed this this morning. I had to do a full reset of the router to get it working again.

I then overclocked it to 216Mhz, and it stopped working immediately. Had to do a full reset again.

So, is this just a problem with this build? Or is the wiki completely wrong when it lists 216mhz as a stable overclock speed?

The Buffaloes seem to be very disagreeable to overclocking. Only a very few have had any success at all with getting the Buffaloes to O/C. Most experience what you did.

Then...shouldn't the wiki be changed? The part where it says 'Stable Overclocking' and it's report it 216mhz?

Just checking before I commit an update.

I don't know if this will help you, but try overclocking it to 228MHz..

I was runing my linksys WRT54G at 228, 240 and 252MHz whithout any problems, but then I thoght that it is maybe to much and I changed it to 216MHz.. Guess what!? It stoped working.. Had to reset just like you and tried again at 216 and the same happend.
Then I tested 228MHz again to see if that would work again and it did..So I think there is some script problem with 216MHz in version beta 24.. But it's ok, my router is running fine at 228MHz..

You can try the same and see if yours will run smoothly like mine Smile

Yep, that works fine. I didn't try it before because I assumed if 216mhz was that unstable that higher would be even worse.

It overclocked to to 228Mhz and is running fine. Hrm, maybe this deserves a bug report....

That's good to hear.. Glad that I helped you :-)

Yes! I also think that it is some kind of bug.. That is the only overclock speed my router will stop responding at.. Ok I did not go over 252MHz, but I think that 300 is also working fine. Have seen some people here runing it at that speed..

So yes.. It's a BUG Wink

I wouldn't call it a bug (the interface does indeed set the freq to whatever you chose in the interface- works fine...), but a nice feature would be to not let you set it to freqs that the particular unit won't support.

ie. since 216 isn't happy for buffalo, don't let that setting get saved (or display it on the list), but 251 is happy so allow it.

Where are you seeing these numbers? I'm running the 8/15 build and see 216, 225, 233, 237, 250, etc. Tried 225 and 233. Both required reset to defaults. Then I tried manually doing nvram set overclocking=228 and committing and same situation.
