ok after getting the balls to finally flash my WRT54G v3.1 and downloading the "dd-wrt.v23_sp2_standard" and flashing the bios it said that it was a SUCCESS!!!!

but then when it wanted me to login the default password didn't work, nor any other combination found on DD-WRT.com ... so I closed the broswer (because it was successful) and restarted firefox.

After loading it up and putting in 192.168.1.1 in the address bar as usual it loads nothing, just a white blank page. I opened up IE7 and safari and the same thing.

any suggestions to why it's giving me internet with the old wep and wireless but not letting me access the router for configuration??

Did you do a 30 second hard reset?

yes the hard reboot worked, but neither admin or root work for the password...

I have had a similar problem. I just flashed the firmware of my WRT54G v2 to this version: dd-wrt.v23_mini_wrt54g.bin. The installation went fine and I was brought to the DD-WRT page on the router. I clicked the setup tab at the top and was prompted to insert the user name and password for which I wrote root and admin. However, these didn't work and I cannot log in. I am stumped as to what I should do now. I tried a 30sec reset to no avail. Any suggestions?

edit: Odd, now it is working fine and I have changed nothing. Thanks!

do you do a 30 sec or a 30/30/30 ?

30 sec w/ power on
continue holding and hold for 30 sec more
continue holding and hold for 30 sec more w/ power plugged back in

wait 30-60 sec for router to boot and start working
connect w/ wired
test root / admin (make sure no caps/typos/etc)

I also just installed the same version except VPN on my wrt54G, everythign comes up fine, even the firmware however the login does not work in any form or fashion. the router is workng fine and I can load 192.168.1.1 just cannot login at all....
