Im having issues with my DLINK DIR-632A router. Its running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (06/08/12) std - build 19342 firmware.

The status router information shows the correct time.

I have enabled NTP server to get the proper time using the settings below:

Time Zone: UTC -08:00
Summer Time: none
Server IP: 0.ca.pool.ntp.org

Anytime I run the command: cat /var/log/messages

The logs show the date time as Jan 1 and at the very end of the log it shows the proper date/time.

Is there a setting that is incorrect here or am I doing something wrong?

Im trying to get this router setup to an OpenVPN and was asked to get the proper time in the logs working first.

I have tried many settings, read the forums here and still cant find a fix for this.

Any suggestions into this would be greatly appreciated.

To answer the question, the router is working properly.

It is inconvenient, I know, but the system does not save the time and does not have a battery to keep the clock. So what ends up happening is that on boot it has the incorrect time until the WAN comes up and the system makes the first request to set the time. There is no way to fix this without modifying the firmware itself.

I upgraded to the firmware suggested and it seems to have somewhat fixed my issue.

Now its trying to get this DD-WRT router now to establish an OpenVPN connection.

Thanks for the replies.
