According to this pdf I attached which I found for tplink 841nv9.I followed every step mentioned in pdf.

understracker wrote:
You can easily debrick your 841ndv8 using the build in tftp client in the bootloader. The tftp server must run on your pc and have ip address 192.168.0.66

see here: https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr841nd#tftp_recovery_via_bootloader_for_v8_v9_v10_v11

1. download ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2016/04-25-2016-r29519/tplink_tl-wr841ndv8/factory-to-ddwrt.bin at your desktop
2. rename it to wr841nv8_tp_recovery.bin
3. download http://tftpd32.jounin.net/download/tftpd32.452.zip at your desktop
4. unzip tftpd32.452.zip eg in folder tftpd32.452 using right click->extract to
5. put wr841nv8_tp_recovery.bin aside tftpd32.exe in folder tftpd32.452
6. change your Ethernet adapter ipv4 address to static addess 192.168.0.66/subnet mask 255.255.255.0/leave gateway and dns void
7. connect the lan1 port of you router to pc's ethernet port
8. start tftpd32.exe and on server interface select your Ethernet nic which should have ip 192.168.0.66. If you have a firewall you may need to disable it or put tftp32 to its exception list.
9. fire up your router WHILE pressing reset for three seconds
10. you should see an incoming connection in the tftp32 gui. if not, something went wrong. Repeat the above process more carefully.
11. when download completes, your router shall reboot
12. restore the Ethernet NIC address to automatic assignment
13. you must be able to reach you shine new dd-wrt at 192.168.1.1

you can also watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0k1sxwX5pMk

remember the recovery image filename is wr841nv8_tp_recovery.bin for v8.

I am attaching the exact stock file that I used when I unbricked my 841ND v8. Check the attachment.
Before knowing there was an alternative to serial unbricking I had used a Nokia DKU-5 to unbrick it when it got bricked the first time.

From the serial console log you provided it would appear that your 841 v8.4 is expecting a TFTPD IP of
192.168.1.100 because you have executed these env setting operands:

setenv ipaddr 192.168.1.111
setenv serverip 192.168.1.100

The above commands are actually optional, you can skip those and the router will expect a firmware file from TFTPD IP 192.168.0.66. If you put those commands, then set your LAN IP of your computer to 192.168.1.100 and put the stock firmware wr841nv8_en_3_15_9_up_boot(140724).bin in the TFTPD folder. You need a TFTPDaemon or server and not a TFTP client. Your computer will work as a server to send the firmware file to the router.

I also followed steps provided by user understracker and tou.manokat@gmail.com many times with no success.Further I tried disabling firewall, antivirus and user account control none helps.I am using windows 7 64 bit and tried using both nokia dku 5 and profilic PL2303XA adapters.tried changing ip
addresses to 192.168.0.66/255.255.255.0 and 192.168.1.100/255.255.255.0 on ethernet adapter with no success

I just flashed my 841ND v8 via TFTPD and reset button method. I took 2 screenshots. First screen shot is taken just 1 second after the TFTPD just started uploading the file to the router. The second after the uploading is done. I did 2 times and were both successful. Very important to remember that firewall has to be turned off. After the uploading, TFTPD software will auto select the loop device (127.0.0.1).

If you do not put the firmware file in the TFTPD folder, the uploading will fail, but the log file will mention the file name being requested.

This is the screenshot of the log when I took out the file wr841nv8_tp_recovery.bin from the directory then I started the reset process on the router. The log actually records the file name being requested, namely wr841nv8_tp_recovery.bin. Try the TFTPD server that I used and try not to put the file wr841nv8_tp_recovery.bin in the TFTPD folder. The error log should tell you the real file name being requested by your router. However if you use serial device and TFTPD method, then you have to specify the file name and the memory address. Try reset button (lock light) and TFTPD first. Or if you want to stick to using the serial device, use another TFTPD program like the one I used which is known to have worked well.

Your serial log says:

wasp> tftpboot 0x81000000 wr841nv8_en_3_15_9_up_boot(140724).bin
enet1 port2 up
dup 1 speed 1000
Using eth1 device

So, the router is expecting eth1, which is LAN ports on 841N v8.4. Other TPLINK routers like 1043NDv8, the LAN port (switch) devices are eth0.

Your router cannot communicate with the tftp server on your PC. The serial cable works, no issues there.

Did you put firmware.bin/code.bin/factory-to-ddwrt.bin in "new folder" (root folder) at your desktop when running SolarWinds tftp server?

Have you tried every LAN port (LAN1-4)?

Have you tried WAN port (just in case)?

Does the "local area connection" connect momentarily when you turn on your router while pressing reset or is it always disconnected? If it doesn't then there might be an issue with your pc's NIC or your Ethernet cable. The NIC might be the reason that your pc crashed in the first place!

Furthermore:

You night have a "double extension" issue. Have you disabled "hide extensions for known files"?

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/10570-file-extensions-hide-show.html

PS: you should not run two or more tftp servers at the same time. They will conflict with each other.

You were right after I changed my ethernet cable router received the firmware which I tried out later .
Tried lan port 4 it works. There was dust in lan port 1 which I think was causing problem, after cleaning lan port 1,it works.
I only ran one tftp server at a time placing firmware file in new folder on desktop.

Thanks for trying it out for me and providing proof that tftp method works.

It looks like serial was not needed anway, as I was successful with tftp method.Later I was also successful with serial method on desktop pc,windows 7 64bit

It turns out ethernet cable had a problem along with lan 1 port of router which were preventing successful unbricking.

Hi,

So I have an tl-841nd v8 and I used on this router openwrt. I wanted to back to original firmware but of course I bricked it...

So my question is, is the router is dead or brick? Sad

The signs:
when I turn on the router the power led is on and all another leds blinks (2s)
when I turn on the router with pressed reset key then the right led on after 5s, after 5s it off and blinks again

I can't blink the SYS led fast.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks,

Read the previous messages closely, the problem with your router can be resolved easily with TFTPD and reset button.
