Hi,
I'm sharing my fibre internet connection with some family members who are being linked via ubiquiti kit to my house. This kit I have no problems with and is good to go but I need some advice creating several vlans to keep everyone separate. I have a WRT54G which I though I could use to create 3 separate vlans for each link. At the station end of each ubiquiti link I have a tenda n6 router running tomato fw. This is setup in access point mode to create wifi and a switch for wired connections.
I've read the vlan guides and getting a little confused. Can I create a separate vlan for each port on the wrt54g that has it's on DHCP or do I need to create the DHCP on the tenda router?
Current set up is
My network 192.168.1.1 - two separate ubiquiti point to point links each with a tenda n6 which DHCP forwards so everyone is on 192.168.1 subnet.
I'd like one link to be on 192.168.2.x and one on 192.168.3.x
Neither of the links really need access to my network. They use plex but that can be over wan rather than lan.
Can anyone suggest some adavice? Perhaps I don't even need the wrt54g to manage the vlans and this can be done on the tenda n6?
Try simply connecting Ubiquiti kit to the WAN port of Tenda N6 and enable DHCP on N6. You may as well add another N6 on your main house and setup another subnet such as 192.168.4.x to separate it from the other two.
