unlucky1, thanks and I have check the setting in the link and if I only go by the recommended setting it is easy, but once I read the explanation I found myself lost since I am not an expert.

Yep, me too. That's why I just follow directions at first then tweak as I learn more. _________________ TP-Link TL-WDR4300 v1 (NAS) - r54682

unlucky1, do you mind to list your setting since you mentioned that some functions didn't work at first time, and you had to play with it until it was working, so I don't want to go through wrong setting, and BTW, I only need to use the router to wire connections with one or 2 computers, and the wireless connection for the cell phones and tablets, I live in small app although currently the signal is not strong everywhere.
Thanks again,
Status: ok
Reset: yes
Errors: 2.4GHZ is not recognized by all smart devices.
Some of my devices don't see the 2.4GHZ band mainly Samsung Tablets and Phone, so I am trying to follow the instructions to customize the setting but I can't find the Advanced Setting tab.

Hello,
On some models, usually Atheros, the advanced setting is seen by checking a box and then it appears. It is on the Basic wireless settings page under the SSID and SSID broadcast. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

I'd suggest starting with the recommended or default for your router, testing, then tweak one at a time and test 'til you get your best result for your router and location. I don't use my 2.4GHz radio because it's broke from the beginning and it's not in an ideal location for the 5GHz to be much use either. _________________ TP-Link TL-WDR4300 v1 (NAS) - r54682

I would recommend visiting the DD-WRT wiki Main Page, and checking out the Tutorials...
Unlucky1, the problem is when I have devices that only work with 2.4GHz, besides, I thought that the 5GHz was always unstable with dd-wrt SW for my router model.
jwoods, thanks for your advise, and I used my best judgement to apply the setting in the advanced setting, and I will visit the link you have provided, but sometimes I don't understand the instructions when they are above my knowledge level.
