I've read this post many times and take guts to flash dd-wrt firmware, and the result is, it work, all light indicator work, power, wifi, lan, and others. I flash the latest beta build r30731. but after play with wireless setting i realize something is missing Wide Channel HT40 isn't there. whay is that? can someone explain? thank you.
DD-WRT noob here.
I have DD-WRT v3.0-r30681 std installed (and running) but I'm missing the "OpenVPN" tab in the "Services" section. I read that I need the VPN version? Where can I get that? Thanks!

???
You might be flashing a wrong version , I also faced the same and looking for a solution . My router came with V11(EU) , on tplink site I see a different firmware for the same , two download options one for V11 and one for v11 EU .
I'm new to this forum. I want to try out DD-WRT on my TP-Link TL-WR841N. Normally I use the button on the back of the router for toggle the wifi on and off very often.
Can someone tell me or this button is still working with DD-WRT on it?
I bought a TL-WR841N device. I want to flash DD-WRT on it, but I don't understand how to do this.
First of all, I don't know if I got the EU or US version. On the bottom is stated:
Model:TL-WR841N(TPD) Ver:11.1
Furthermore, I got firmware version 3.16.9 build 150616 Rel.52099n.
Based on the firmware, I guess it is a non-EU version. Is that correct?
Hey,
I have the exact same router type as you have. Were you able to find out which version (non-us, us) is the right one? Was your flashing successful?
Thanks in advance!

No, I did not flash my router yet. I'm still looking for the answers on the questions I posted here. So if you find out any answers, I really would like to know.
I looked the firmware up at the tp link site and it sayed that this was the us firmware and therefore the us router. So I just flashed the factory 2 dd-wrt over the tp-link web and afterwards updated dd-wrt with the second file. worked out fine for me!

I think I have the same firmware. DO you have taken the '-us' versions of the dd-wrt images? Or the ones without '-us'?
On this forum, I read that only the us version is unlocked. However, also dd-wrt version without 'us' are available in the v11 dd-wrt directory. What's the difference?
What build are most people running for this router to keep it somewhat stable? I've tried a couple (currently on 29739) and an going to try 30771. So far, I haven't seen the power or WiFi lights come on and on one of the builds the router stopped responding. Been a while since I've messed with DD-WRT (got a couple routers running 14929 from back in the day). Any help is appreciated, thanks.
*EDIT*
30771 seems to work pretty good. Power LED is back, WiFi blinks with activity. Time will tell. I'd still appreciate some feedback on build versions though. Thanks! _________________

I've modified the header of the DD-WRT 28417 factory-to-ddwrt build intended for TL-WR841ND v10, so that it will flash on a TL-WR841ND v11 running stock TP-Link firmware.
If the attached build works for you, it can be further updated with any newer-than-28417 webflash build for TL-WR841ND v10.
Disclaimer: I haven't tested the attached build myself, so I'm not responsible in any way if you brick your router.
Please only flash this build if you know how to unbrick it.
Note: You must be logged in to be able to download the attachment.
Worked for me. I have a v11 ordered off amazon and received just a few days ago. Does anyone have a stable build of DD-WRT they're using? My router needs to be restarted once or twice a day, I'm using DD-WRT 28417.

The US version is for any router that was bought in the US (or bought online from a reseller in the US). The Non-US version is for everywhere else, except usually China (China based TP-Links can't usually be flashed to dd-wrt). _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware?
