Hi all,

Beyond the basic gui settings, how can I create a pro-ftpd config file to have several users with individual home folders, limit user access by ip address, allow file overwrites and folder creation?

Thanks

The documentation is here:
http://www.proftpd.org/docs/

and the config file is located:

/tmp/proftpd/etc/proftpd.conf

if you want it to save it across a boot, I suggest giving it permanent storage to load from.

OK, but I'm missing a basic piece of info: I read that the file in the tmp folder gets overwritten every time the router is reset, so I assume I would have to keep a copy of the config file to copy into tmp at every boot. But, where do these files go physically? If I have enabled a thumb drive on my router, do I write the files there?

You got it correct. Smile

The tmp directory does get cleared on reboot and
saving the config file to a usb drive is a good option. (There are other options as well)

(it has been a while since I did this so I can not remember if there are errors or not)

Here is a resource for getting commands to run at start up:

Or the script on USB mount can be used.
