The image is of what I think is a point where I can connect an external antenna to a Netgear WNR2000V1 router.

It looks like a small mating connector could be snapped on there.

Does anyone know if that is the case, what the connector is called, and where I might acquire antennas with the mating connector?

My plan would be to drill holes in the case and mount two better antennas on the top of it.

That looks like U.Fl cables could work there.

Search U.Fl cables and see if anybody else has used them on your router.

You are right, that is exactly what that connector is.

I have since acquired a couple of cables on eBay that snap on and work nicely. They are U.FL to RP-SMA and a search there will turn up hundreds of them in various lengths.

It would be nice if all wi-fi routers put those fitting on the PCB. In most cases I have found RP-SMA on the antenna end then stripped and bared cable end that is solder to two solder pads on the PCB. But that is easy enough to do too if you are adept at soldering.
