I'd like to know too.
I am asking myself if there are any DD-WRT usage statistics and reported bug data. I would pick the latest version with a high usage combined with a low amount of bug reports (percentage wise). _________________ WHR-HP-G300N

The WHR-HP-G300N is very limited with its 4 MB flash + only 400 MHz cpu would not do well for VPN by any standards of today.
There is an old thread here -
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=481094
I have this router myself as a second AP to cover my driveway. It does support openvpn i forget which rev starts support but i am running rev DD-WRT v3.0-r30082 std (07/01/16). Just be aware that it is highly likely you will have to update the firmware via tftp recovery. If you are not aware of how to do so familiarize yourself before attempting to flash. If you are using a windows pc to do the tftp flash you will want a switch or hub between the windows pc and the router to keep the interface up, it makes it much easier timing wise to nail the very small window that tftp is open on the router.
Thanks all. I did read some of the old information I found and was a little confused. I kept reading 4MB, but when I went to my router pages, I saw 32MB. I think I realized the 4MB was the flash, not the usable RAM.
I guess that puts me in the market for a new router at some point if I end up wanting to use vpn.
Is there an up to date thread anywhere that I can find info on newer routers? It seems a lot of the info here is out of date and it's hard to find clear up to date info.
