Recommended router for ~usd 100

Hi; I was using stock rom TP LINK wd1043nd.

I wanted to use it as an openVPN client, so installed a DD-WRT. It worked pretty bad. Low speed, packets lost.

Which router do you recommend for about usd 100?

used r7500 v2 or ea8500 if u can find. their cpu is among the best for high speed vpn.

The two routers you have mentioned, which one would you recommend with vpn?

They both have the same CPU so it doesn't matter.
