seemed to worked fine, was easier than I imagined, and no renaming file, just have to click ok and next if it warns you for a format that's not supported.

First time you do it is scary, I know.
Glad it is went well and is working for you.
Now your next decision, when a new build comes out that you want to upgrade to will be do I keep the Linksys partition? I personally do as I like being able to run stock, DD-WRT, LEDE, Openwrt or Gargoyle. Having the Linksys UI available makes that easy. Just keep in mind there are 2 partitions on this router, the active one and an inactive one. When you flash new firmware it always gets loaded into the inactive one.
I totally agree. Keep the Linksys firmware in a partition. Never need a serial cable if you do. _________________ My "WRT" rant, and why I have gone ddwrt on x86, no more consumer routers. ( ac86u as access points & bridges )

Just got a couple new Linksys wrt1200ac v2 to replace a couple old buffalo wzr-300hp's for desktop client bridges. Under router database wrt1200ac found two files specifically stating 1- initial installation, and 2- dd-wrt linksys. No problem updating, all is well on both. Cheers!
Just so you are aware, you now have ddwrt on both partitions. _________________ My "WRT" rant, and why I have gone ddwrt on x86, no more consumer routers. ( ac86u as access points & bridges )
