Was running McWRt for a few years and never any problems.
Then had to switch back to stock Fw,again no problems.
Stock FW,afaik, does not allow control of incoming IP's?
I needed to ONLY allow certain IP's through on a certain port.
Couldn't find out how to do it so have now switched to Lede.
But Lede is a bit more involved,I need to allow multicast through for my provider TV.
With stock FW it was a simple tickbox but with Lede I am going to have to ssh with putty, install some extra modules and that seems a bit much when stock was as simple as it could be.
Can I control incoming IP's to a port with DDWRT?
How involved is allowing multicast through?
In my case I always flash from the Linksys UI so that I can easily install any of these, including DD-WRT, easily. In order to change from one to the other the Linksys UI must be used. All provide updating from within, but that would overlay the Linksys firmware. So if you want to give them a try this info should at least get you to some good builds and info.
The link to the LEDE project will give you lots of info.
Thanks. Downloading now. Did they update the wireless driver to the current one? Guess I will find out when I install.
UPDATE
Installed the latest Gargoyle. Did a new config rather then keeping old settings. This was suggested on the site to not use old saved settings.
Still using the older wireless drivers.
strings /lib/modules/*.*/mwlwifi.ko | grep "^10.3"
10.3.2.0-20161011
10.3.2.0-20161011
In my experience with Gargoyle these work very well.
Not up very long, but running fine so far.

Updated to this latest build over Kong's build on my wrt1900acs v2 using Linksys UI - so far so good.
CPU temp is as follows:
CPU Temperature
CPU 78.9 °C / WL0 49.5 °C / WL1 51.4 °C
Ran iPerf client from my iPad to the iPerf server on my Windows laptop on the 5Ghz channel - client reports 41.0Mbit/s - does that look right? I just used a iOS app on my iPad and left all default parameters (Interval 1 Bytes 1M - IPv4 TCP)
Thanks. Downloading now. Did they update the wireless driver to the current one? Guess I will find out when I install.

I used gargoyle before and it's pretty cool, but if it's not using the updated drivers how can it be any different from DD wrt in terms of performance and the WIFI bugs?
The way I understand it, that they are using the same kernel and libraries so the main difference is the features and GUI, but anything on the driver level will be exactly the same?

Do not know what makes the difference for me, but Gargoyle with the previous wireless drivers is faster on my iperf test of the 5GHz wireless then Brainslayer with the latest drivers.
same for me, sticking with Gargoyle at the moment. _________________ My "WRT" rant, and why I have gone ddwrt on x86, no more consumer routers. ( ac86u as access points & bridges )
