I can not give you any specific advice but you are on a rather old k2.6 build. Support for 3G dongles is flaky but there have been fixes made in the latest builds : http://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/5779

So you can try a later build and maybe use K3.x build for better USB support if that is possible on your router.

All builds are beta releases, the latest can be found at
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2017/

For your router look in the Broadcom_K26 for Linux kernel 2.6 or Broadcom_K3X for Linux kernel 3.X.
The K2.6 are usually a bit faster but in your case for usb support try K3.X:

ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2017/04-06-2017-r31825/broadcom_K3X/

Make sure that this is the right file for your router start with resetting to default before and after upgrading see: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Asus_RT-N10U

Nice thanks Very Happy

I don't mind really if K3 will be a slower as for me the main thing is to connect my modem and get it recognised by the router. Then my 8 Mbps 3g internet will be delivered by my Wifi Asus router in whole house.
While I was checking beta releases was able to find only .trx files. What is the difference between .trx and .bin files? Can I only upgrade the router with .trx file?

Hello again,

K3 build did a trick:

dd-wrt.v24-31825_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega.bin

As soon as I have installed K3 release USB modem shows up as "connected" and exactly what l want. Appreciate your assistance. If you will have a time please could you answer my previous questions?

Again thx. Nice community forum

@myky

http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Mobile_Broadband#Alcatel

can you please give me the missing speed specification for X232D?
The D in the model number denotes dual mode ie that it can handle both UMTS and CDMA, right?

Hi Guys,
--------------------------------------------------------
EDIT:

HSPA/UMTS 900/2100MHz
GSM/GPRS/EDGE 900/1800MHz

max speed 21Mbps
--------------------------------------------------------
EDIT:

Do you think my post can be moved into correct Broadcom section? Sorry, l have just read your rules here Smile
--------------------------------------------------------
Thanks for your help. I am impressed by the community :0

So the modem full model number is X232D-2BVDUA3 (my dad bought it in Ukraine). I am not sure if it is a dual band standard (UMTS/CDMA) or not and we do not have an original box (but l will confirm).

One think l have noticed yesterday while the modem is recognised by the router (when I created an APN 3G profile and chose my UMTS provider options) it shows up as "connected". So l tested, everything is good. Telnet`ed into the router, hit "reboot". After reboot, the router came back online and the modem was connected as expected. But if l will switch off router completely (power off) and switch on again modem no longer recognised. So it is not automatically detected by the router while it boots up. When the router is up and running l then tried manually trigger WAN 3G connection from the GUI, no luck.

When I manually pull off/on the modem it then gets recognised and "connected". So my internet is working.
Not sure why it is happening.

I am trying this with a supported 620L Novatel verizon modem, with no luck. Does DDWRT require special configuration or is it just supposed to work?

What settings do I need besides Broadband?
