Hi
I seem to have problem with firmware too.
However my rev is A1, but thought that You wont be mad if I post in this thread.

My problem is that I can flash dd-wrt, but after that router is rebooting all the time (or resetting?).
On PC ethernet is constantly connecting and disconnecting.
LEDs are changing: orange power->green net->orange power->...

I flashed factory-to-ddwrt firmware, as webflash fails to flash.

Any idea what could went wrong?
Before playing with dd I had official 1.0.1 firmware.
It's not connected to WAN as I wanted to use it as Client. Is it mandatory for first boot?
I'm trying with r31825. May it be broken?

EDIT: Works with r27716. Later will check newer version.

Hi..i think you should point to the official firmware update from D-Link's site that was rejected ? That's very strange. Be careful that European and American models have different firmwares.

I finally was able to DD-WRT on my Dlink DIR-810L B1 with the 2.04b1 security patched firmware.

Initial failed steps:
- 2.04b1 reset to factory
- failed update using DLink web interface with factory-to-ddwrt 25818, factory-to-ddwrt 27600, webflash 27600, openwrt 15.05
- failed using recovery flash mode with all 4 above
- failed downflash using DLink web interface and recovery mode with Dlink 2.01b3
- successful downflash to 2.02b1

2.02b1 has a bug where it may lockup at the login screen. This is stated and fixed in their firmware notes post 2.02b1. If it happens, simply power it off or press the reset button.

To get DD-WRT with Dlink firmware 2.02b1 using recovery flash mode:
- reset to factory, after 1st boot, ensure the web interface displays
- power off by pulling the power cord
- set network adapter to IP 192.168.0.2, SUBNET MASK 255.255.255.0
- push and hold the reset button, put power plug in, continue holding the reset until the power light turns orange, release
- go to 192.168.0.1, flash the factory-to-ddwrt 25818
- once it begins the percent completed counting, feel free to close the browser, disconnect the network cable and undo the IP/SUBNET MASK changes, then replug wait until it gets an IP address
- with DD-WRT, flash the webflash 25818, choose reset to default after flash

5Ghz wireless didn't work for me. I even flashed the latest 27600 v3 build. I ended up going back to Dlink's 2.04b1. Here's where things changed. Now with 2.04b1 I can go direct to the dd-wrt 27600 builds, unlike before. Therefore I detailed my initial failed steps for you to try in case going from DLink's 2.02b1 to DD-WRT instructions don't work at the start. Total time with my failed attempts was about 1 hour. Best of luck, be patient, and set aside enough time.

Remember... ALWAYS reset to factory before flashing and ALWAYS flash wired.

Replicated your entire experience. Thanks a meg Very Happy

1. used emergency recovery mode to flash 2.04b1 (had 2.03)
2. flash factory-to-ddwrt.bin r27600 (all others failed)
3. factory reset, reboot, disabled autorefresh (leave it blank, default is 3 sec)
4. use DD-WRT UI to flash dlink-dir810lb1-webflash r34311
5. repeat steps 3 and 4 up to r36808 (2018-08-30, later versions failed)

Currently very happy with r36808. Both radios are working and bridge effortlessly with every reboot. I have 2.4Ghz radio set to Mixed G+N and the 5GHz set to Mixed A+N ('A' I assume is AC but have not tested).

For an el-cheapo router ($19 on sale), it connects to every legacy device I can throw at it. Moreover, all the open source security updates provide peace of mind. May try flashing newer builds but won't fix what ain't broke (unless there is a serious security update).

Cheers.

decided to update my dd-wrt 810L a1, was on a build back from 2016. r36808 took, but both the latest build and the build from 10-10-2018 (on database) did not take. weird. thanks for your post anyways to point me to a newer build!

'NA-Mixed' unfortunately is not 'N/AC-Mixed' but DD on this is far ahead of the schit-show of the 2016 OEM firmware.

Since this has become the de-facto device thread, I'll mention that I updated a B1 from:
OEM 2.01->2.04->factory-to-dd 27600->DD-webflash 36808->41135 (ref: ticket 6872). I initially tried jumping straight to 41418 from OEM, which appeared to work, but ya... the GUI was hosed.

I know this is old, but I just wanted to note that I was able to flash my REVB1 model using the "emergency room" procedure elaborated earlier in the thread. I first uploaded the OEM 2.04B01 hotfix firmware using the emergency room. Then I rebooted to the emergency room again, flashing the factory-to-ddwrt.bin from Downloads › betas › 2023 › 03-08-2023-r51976 › dlink-dir810l-b1. The first time the emergency room balked at it, but I hit "back" then tried again and it went through. I then logged into the DD-WRT admin page on the router, changed credentials, went to the Administration > Firmware Upgrade page, and updated to dlink-dir810lb1-webflash.bin (from same beta location). Seemed to work OK, but it only shows a 2.4GHz WiFi radio, no 5GHz. May need to do some more troubleshooting.

You didn't need to flash it twice, the factory-to-ddwrt.bin file was enough (unless you flashed an older version first!). Upgrading (or downgrading) to a newer (or older) uses the webflash.bin file. Please consider posting a report in the appropriate build thread. Thanks.

New Build - 03/08/2023 - r51976

Always happens after flash+reboot. Wink Power off for 10s then back on again, and it usually comes back. Wink The issue the wife and I have (on builds from the past year or so) is the 2.4 GHz radio is super slow. Soon, I hope to bisect where this broke. Cool

Unless... I just upgraded the B1 last weekend to 04-02-2023-r52217 (from r51530 std 01/29/23) but the wife hasn't retested the 2.4G radio yet.
Update (11apr): she still hasn't tested it and not sure when we will be able to now :-/
