|
I have followed various dd-wrt guides, but so far I have failed to make Qos limit the bandwidth of target computer. I've tried setting 'Downlink & Uplink (kbps)', also tried to set the 'Default Bandwidth' levels with no effect. I also wanted to experiment with Access Restrictions" tried website blocking by url address and by key word again no effect. For my tests I was trying to limit media streaming sites, to see if any effects, but they continued to work at full speed, not blocked and full HD. Don't know what I have wrong. I have set the DD-WRT with a static IP to same LAN range 192.168.1.x, currently I,ve disabled WiFi, & 'Automatic configuration DHCP'
This is my hardware setup:-
OpenReach ASDL NGA ECI-CPE-Modem connected -----> (Router Lan-Wifi [Single Input port] From any Ethernet 1-4) ----> (linksysE900 DD-WRT v3.0-r31722 mega [single yellow LAN port labelled "Internet"] From Any EtherNet 1-4) ----> LAN port of target computer.
I would like to be able to experiment with a set static bandwidth speed, and experiment with blocking websites & high bandwidth hogging streaming sites to a
target computer. What do I need to do to make this work? Do I need different hardware or setup? Is there a step by step guide?
Any help or ideas would be gratefully received!
Thank in advance. |
