Hi community,
I'm about to buy some router. I need real dual radio dual band to be able to extend WiFi signal without loosing bandwidth (not like 50% when using router in repeater bode). My intend is to use one band 2.4GHz as Client and second band 5GHz as AP. I'm OK with flashing dd-wrt.
I can get Linksys E4200 v1 for about 50USD.
The question is, is it worth it in 2017? Can I get something better for simmilar price and simmilar community support?
Not worth it. Get a netgear r6300v2, netgear r6400, netgear r7000, asus rt-ac68.
The last 2 you can get on eBay for a little more than $50 but they are much nicer than the e4200.
The first two I listed are better also.
Or you can get an rt-n66u or rt-ac66u.
Where are you located? _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.
Thanks a lot for your reply! I've almost bought that
Unfortunatelly, I cannot find routers you suggested for about 50$.
How about D-Link DIR-860L?
Or is there any other and elegant way how to repeat weak WiFi signal without loosing significant part of bandwidth?
I don't want to use these power-plug extenders and also having one client and one AP as two devices isn't quite elegant. I would really like to have all of it in one device.
