Seems to be solid so far with the new kernel security update 3.18.49

Speaking of kernel... wondering why we're still on 3.18 for atheros while Broadcom already moved on to 4.9?

thank you for the latest update!

Anyone know why the "Last Modified" date on the folder isn't changing? Not really an issue, just wondering. Last modified for K3-AC-IPQ806X/ is 2017-03-19 when the file is actually 2017-04-16 .

Hard to say for sure -- don't really know what server he is running.
Probably some permission attributes are different on that directory or some
key part of indexing is off for that specific directory....
...or the server might just need a good cleaning up.
He'll probably fix it someday --

Just had a brief internet drop-out yesterday for about a minute with the latest Kong build 04/16 r31870M, up-time since it was released. I powered cycle the router and will monitor if it happens again. Also noticed that signal strength is weaker ~5dBM. Never had these issues with r31800M...

I recall somebody mentioned a hard reset with physical-reset button was needed for last release 31830M, is this true for this router?

I only posted this so kong is aware that the client bridge routed function for the 5 ghz is no longer working in the latest release 31870M and probably a few releases before this.

I have spent the last 6 hours trying various releases and pinpoint the problem. If using as AP there is no problem, but when using as client bridge routed 5 ghz then there is a big problem. Seemed to work with the 2.4 ghz radio though. So this really messed up the repeater bridge ability of this router.

It also doesn't work in 31800M right?

Yes, tried with 31800M based on your input but it did not work for the 5 ghz client bridge routed function.

I originally used the same SSID for both the client bridge routed and the virtual AP function so never detected the malfunction. Only when using a different SSID for the VAP did I find that the 5ghz client bridge did not work. The 2.4 ghz client bridge is working though abeit at much lower speed.

I saw on Broadcom forum that one got it working by disabling the Core USB Support option, seems strange to me but give that a try...

Hey Jerry, I realized that the newer Kong releases have different partitions so I did a dd-wrt reset with the reset button instead of erase nvram. Would that explain why the newer releases like this one suddenly killed my client bridge and cannot access my main router?

Isn't the partitions thing only for the EA8500 routers? I don't think this applies to r7500v2.

I have no idea why your client bridge don't work on 5 GHz but aside from that --

Just some observations with the EA8500 running 31870M
Since both my radio chips are 9980 it's hard to compare but i think what is fouling the ath0 & ath0.1 is probably
same issue on 9980 & 9880.

Client Bridge (routed) w/5GHz works very well on the EA8500... full 1733 bridged to anther EA8500.
Only issue I have with it is the 2.4 AP in HT40 will still only allow clients to connect at HT20.
Checked ath0_hostap.conf against the one on both band as APs and it is identical but for some strange
reason ath0 clients cannot connect at HT40 rates when running bridge with ath1.
But the droid turbo connects at his full 433 to the ath1.1 VAP when ath1 is Client Bridged.

Much the same when client bridged using 2.4. I get full 600 across bridge ( yea still same if Turbo QAM enabled or not )
But the ath0.1 VAP will only allow clients to connect at HT20. Clients connected to ath1 AP are good at their full rates.

' bout all I know

EDIT: FYI
exact same behavior with -
DD-WRT v3.0-r31883 std (04/18/17)

Hey mtjcd, thanks for the heads up.

I played some more with the 31870M.

ath0 5 GHz as client bridge (routed) if Ht20 is set, is working.
But if set at anything but HT20 then ath0 crashed. ath0.1 client can connect at HT20 only. I can connect to main router ath0 and ath1 at full speed.

Same behavior with 31800M, 31570 and others.

Stupid question:

Can I flash pretty much any firmware (factory img, lede, BS build, Kong, etc.) from ddwrt telnet for this router, using:

write <fw_name> linux
erase nvram
reboot

???
