New here with a new router.
When I download the DDWRT firmware to my mac book it comes in a zipped .bin file. When I open them they change to another zipped bin.cpgz file. I know not to upload that firmware so what should I do to get DDWRT going on my new Linksys WRT3200ACM.
You don't unzip them you just flash them. But before you do, I advise you reading about the wrt3200acm and the wrt1900ac flashing procedures and status in this forum that I moved your post to.
I foresee trouble if you don't. _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.
Become very familiar with the 2 partitions and how to use them. The WRT routers can be alot of fun(I think they are ), or hours of headaches. _________________ My "WRT" rant, and why I have gone ddwrt on x86, no more consumer routers. ( ac86u as access points & bridges )
Did you log into the GUI? Did you look around? Have you ever set up a wireless router before?
I warned you to do some reading before you flashed your router.
This isn't not for the faint of heart and definitely not for someone who doesn't know how to set up the wifi and secure it. _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.
Sorry for the late reply. No reason to get testy, but yes, yes, and yes. Fortunately I have a dual router setup. I have a time capsule 2TB in front of the 3200 so I never lost access to the internet. I have the DDWRT and VPN setup just fine, thanks. Now I have a regular network (TC 2TB) and my secure DD WRT setup (3200ACM). Life is great!!!! Just like what flash routers would do.
