Hello,

I'm trying to set up an isolated guest VAP on a WRT160Nv3 running DD-WRT v3.0-r31924 mini (05/02/17). I'm using the following two pages as my guides:

1. https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Guest_WiFi_%2B_abuse_control_for_beginners

2. https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Multiple_WLANs

I have added the Virtual Interface and set the password, but the new SSID is not broadcasting. Also, when I go to Setup->Networking->DHCPd and click the "Add" button, nothing happens. No popups, no extra options, nothing. In fact, none of the "Add" buttons are responsive on the entire Setup->Networking page.

Would someone be able to point me in the right direction?

you did reboot after setting up?

The K3 version is supposed to work, I have used the K3 30880 build on my E2000 which is working with a guest AP.

Yes, I've rebooted multiple times. I added the virtual interface, saved, set the wireless security, saved and applied, then rebooted.

You will have to use a K3.x build. Not sure the 160nv3 can run a k3x.
Another option is use an old build ... probably one recommend in wiki for that router.
The k26 build 25974 will probably work but k26 builds after that are broken when using security on a VAP

You can see what Kernel is running on the Status Tab.

K2.6 or K3.x

Thanks, yeah, I'm running K2.6. I didn't even know what the difference was (2.6 vs. 3.x) until mrjcd's post forced me to look into it.

I'm currently debating whether I want to downgrade to the older K2.6 build or upgrade to a K3.x build. I'm seeing that K3.x usually results in slower speeds, especially on older routers like mine, but my ISP connection's not that fast. As long as it doesn't affect internal LAN speeds, I suppose it might not make a difference.

In case you haven't seen:
From what this says -
http://wikidevi.com/wiki/Linksys_WRT160N_v3
and here
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices#Linksys_.28Wireless_a.2Fb.2Fg.2Fn.2Fac.29 -
the WRT160N v3 only has 4 MB of flash but yet there is a k3.x build with its name here -
ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2017/04-06-2017-r31825/broadcom_K3X/
file size 7753 KB so I dunno ... I haven't seen anyone running K3.x on the 160nv3 .. but that don't really mean a whole lot.
Maybe somebody knows ???

There is 3 pages here worth reading about the wrt160nv3 iffin you want a repeater or repeater bridge -
http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=306437
Same principle applys about VAPs not working on newer k2.6 builds on any config.

Thanks! Very good reads. By coincidence (ISP is forcing us to upgrade our internet plan), we decided to buy a new router so I guess I'll just leave the WRT160N as it is as a backup unit.
