I'm another user that was fooled by the lack of attention to update the "suported device list" to tell that actually WR940N-v3 IS NOT SUPPORTED...
Today i went to store to bought 4 routers for two uncles, found that model with good price, and bought. Picked up one and had flash DD-WRT and than.... no LAN, no WAN.
I discovered after that seems like the LAN ports turned to be a "WAN Switch", as i plugged the main router on LAN1, a notebook on LAN4, and the internet LED turned to be blue (internet access) and the notebook too with internet, but with the IP from master router.
Is possible to turn one of the LAN into a WAN, and use the another 3 LANs as LAN? (Until DD-WRT correct this bug?)
I use webrevert to return to stock firmware, but with 3 LAN we can work fine until a final solution..

I just picked up one of these to replace a faulty router.
First time i flashed the firmware over tftp i thought i had bricked it due to the LED turning red/purple... eventually i realised it had flashed and discovered the issue (which i like others had not seen previously) regarding the wan bug.
The router flashed fine and everything works as expected, even the leds now work properly...
So anyone having the issue consider openwrt for the short term, however considering it works under openwrt without issue, surely the issues can be fixed with dd-wrt as well.
Does anyone have an idea of who original created the patches to so the v3 worked with dd-wrt as i would much prefer to see the router work with dd-wrt instead, who is good to contact about this? Does anyone know?

Hi guys I would like to put dd-wrt on my WR940N version firmware V6 to use vpn on my router, can you guys help me?I look for this version but I can't finding it. I just only get the version V3 on ftp://ftp.dd-wrt.com/betas/2017/11-16-2017-r33772/, If I put this version on it will be ok or may I bricked him?
My router is from brazil,I need get version from my country too?
If you guys don't understand me, sorry but It's because my english it's not good enough!
I work alot to fix a problem with traffic shaping on my connection and what I see on the the web sites is to put vpn on my router, but there is a problem i can't finding this version 6 to use on TP-LINK WR940N V6
I've check the md5 hash of this version and 2016's version, they do not have the same hash. That means something was edited in the .bin file (i'm not sure which was edited).
hello guys, I did try the newest dd-wrt firmware for WR940N v3.
The good news is
Everything is ok, WAN port works, LAN ports work perfectly
The bad news is
This router does not allow user to 'overclock tx power', default setting is 20dBm
Which build did u install was it 37012? I kinda want to give DD-WRT a try on my wr940n v3 but Is everything really working ok leds and everything? also do you have QoS in there? I've been using Openwrt but It doesn't has QoS which is what I need the most.

I used build 36808 and this dd-wrt firmware has the QoS
