Hi all,

I'm new to this board, even that I used ddwrt in the past on Linksys wrt54. In the past years, I lost the focus a little bit, as I went more into the Hackintosh era with the small spare time I have left for my computer nerding.

Anyway, I'm using a Netgear R7000 for the past years as my main router and this week I was so frustrated about the original firmware, I decided to give the good old friends at dd-wrt a try. After updating to openwrt (yes I didnt read the missing wlan drivers), I fast found Kongs builds for r7000. Since than, I would say I'm in a steep learning curve (ones more). Everything works so far flawless. To my knowledge, I'm running the most actual build recommended for enduser: v3.0-r32170M

What I'm not able to get up and running is my USB printer. A basic, but wunderbar reliable Brother HL-2140.
I struggle with the following situation: how to get packages installed when package-distribution methods are not usable with telnet? I've followed some guides (see below), but as ip

OTRW2
http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/OTRW2_%28Optware_the_right_way_Take_2%29#Kernel_3.x
does not work, dd-ware is to old?

Optware
https://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Optware_on_K3-AC-ARM
does not work anymore

IPKG
https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/USB_printer_sharing
does not work, IPKG is not installed

So just in short:
What instruction do I need to follow to get my printer up and running? Some tips are highly appreciated as I don't see a solution. Maybe I'm lost in my 100 ddwrt tabs in chrome at the moment. But I thought, I better ask for your help. I tried my best on my own.

You don't need any packages.

Just turn on USB and printing services in the services/usb tab.

Hi CTEC,
thanks for the fast reply. But I've done that. How to connect to the Router afterwards? I don't managed to print from Win10 or Mac OS X 10.11.6.

From OS X 10.11.6 as it is my main work environment

protocol: HP Jetdirect - Socket
address and the port - ie. normally 192.168.1.1:9100 (WRONG)
'Queue' blank
Brother CUPS driver

with this settings, os x is not able to connect, add printer process just hangs, spinning wheel of death.

OK update:
Just leave the fxxxxxx port blank, thats the solution.
I'm sorry for my foolish - beginners - error. maybe someone should add this information for other beginners to the main R7000 Kong topic?
I've attached a general screenshot for adding a cups printer.
