Hello, I am a newbie.....
My intent is to configure a wireless access router (2nd) to enable Expressvpn on the top. My problem I can't see the Wireless signal at all and therefore not connect.
I followed the wiki for broadcom.
I have bought an absolute new ASUS RT-N18U.
Followed the WIKI for Broadcom (and have remembered the hard resets)
Not updated the asus firmware; installed the DD-WRT basic firmware.
I can access the router via the LAN without problem.
I have tried various wifi-scanners - but no SSID available.
Everything looking fine - but no signal I can use for wireless clients.
If no easy solution I would like if I could disable DD-WRT...
I have added a pdf showing system info.

Why have you picked such an old Build?

Did you use a file with the router name in it?

Important is alwasy to erase nvram after comming from stock. I do not know if the RT-N18U plays nice to the "erase nvram" command from the command prompt, but resetting NVRAM with the WPS button(hold WPS button, remove power, restore power while holding and hold for about 25 secs untill the light starts flashing), is safe, I think.

Furthermore is SSID broadcasting enabled?

And yes get the build recommended by Per Yngve

What Regulatory Domain have you set?

It may not show if it's illegal for the clients.

Thanks both,
Thanks had set the Reg. Domain to Europe
Not sure what you mean with wps button - should I use the wps button instead of the reset button when performing the 30-30-30 reset?

Here is what I am doing now...
Reinstall the newest asus factory firmware (from 2. Juni 2017)
Check the install and wireless is working
And then following the wiki but use the link from yngve

Do not go back to stock but upload the recent DDWRT build over the old one just reset before and after.
You can reset with the 30/30/30 method but this is not advised on newer broadcom routers. If yours can do that then it is Ok.
The WPS button reset is easier and I think safer for asus routers.

Spent 5 hours today together with ExpessVPN support....and they can't get their VPN to work. Have any tried to run ExpressVPN on the ddwrt version Yngve shipped to me from June 2017. ExpressVPN tells me they only support 2016 versions or have experience with that.
Maybe I need to downgrade....

Ok so I trust the build is working well including the wireless/SSID?
If so close this thread and post your question about express VPN in the advanced networking forum.
Include router, build, openVPN provider and openVPN settings.

Your build is probably OpenVPN 2.4 there are slight changes, most notably: proto udp4 and mtu-disc yes

I am also using Asus RT-N18U, and DD-WRT version 3 build 32170 std (06/01/17).

Stay with build 32170 for the meantime because people are reporting problems with the recent 3 builds after 32170.

We seems to use the same...ASUS RT-N18U(latest firmware) and DD-WRT version 3 build 32170 - but they can't get mine to work with VPN at all...simply nothing happens. I probably needs to open a new thread.

Are you trying to VPN into China? I heard that China had banned all VPN traffic. Smile

Yes, you should start a new thread on your VPN issues.

Disclaim: I don't use VPN.
