Hi

At home I have a Synology NAS with VPN server activated. Now I'm looking for a way to securely connect my devices (tablets, phones etc.) to my home network while travelling. So when having any kind of internet WiFi available (e.g. from a hotel), I'd like to power up a preconfigured router that is able to connect to that signal, then connect the WAN to my home VPN server and finally broadcast a new SSID for my clients to connect to.

The most important part seems to be documented as "universal wireless repeater", but there isn't much mentioning of VPN. Will the requested setup ever work?

And if so, what type of device would best be suited for this (i.e. small and easy to travel with)?
