I am trying to setup two networks. One with VPN one without. When I try changing the IP of the router on what will be the VPN network it continually fails. I am trying to change it to 192.168.2.1. The VPN router is a Linksys WRT 1900ac v2. If I use save everything looks correct. The DHCP range populates to 192.168.2.xxx but when I click apply I am no longer able to connect to the router. I've tried using both the old and the new address and neither one resolves. If I change the default to anything within the 192.168.1.xxx range the changes stick and I am able to connect to the router via it's new IP address. I'm not sure why it won't take to the 192.168.2.1 address. any help would be appreciated.
Assuming you are making these type changes with only the computer connected to the router
I would say make the changes then apply settings
unplug the cable from your computer
count to 27 slowly
plug network cable back into computer
wait 13 seconds
Try access router at whatever new IP you changed it to
Unplugging may have done the trick. I also disabled my firewall for public networks and established a static IP on the connection that the router was on with an IP in the 192.168.2.xxx range.
