I just bought an AC5300 a week ago and loaded Kong's test build 33000m. Loaded the bin directly from the Asus firmware restoration tool and it worked perfectly.
Asus firmware was originally 3.0.0.4.380.3341, it auto upgraded to 7743 after first use. I had frequent but intermittent loss of internet from wifi. After a botched attempt to upgrade to BS 31690, I restored the original asus firmware through the Asus tool, reset to defaults and loaded 33000m.
Wl2 signal strength was low at first, but switch to manual channel settings and using vt80 fixed it.
Turn it off. Hold the reset button it while turning it on. When the power led starts flashing, go to 192.168.1.1 in your browser and use the mini cfe to upload the asus firmware.
If it has a newer cfe, you may not be able to load dd-wrt onto it.
OK.... Tried with a different laptop and I'm back to the ASUS 3341 FW with the Asus recovery tool... Maybe a firewall issue? anyway, I'm good to try again.
I really appreciate the help! I was careful but still managed to goof it up somehow.
you should have flashed kongs bin with the recovery.Try to flash the dd-wrt.trx then do the recovery method and flash kongs latest bin file for your router. _________________ Please Fix The Following Bugs:
EOIP Settings not applied automatically after FW upgrade or reboot. http://svn.dd-wrt.com/ticket/4061
The port 80 forwarding bug with out reapplying settings appears to have been fixxed.
Got it that time... RT-AC5300 is now running DD-WRT build 33010M. *whew*
Thanks again so much for the support. Is there a thread or any suggestions about how best to configure each radio for best performance?
Only odd thing I've noticed so far is that the 2.4GHz radio is reporting a MAC of 00:00:00:00:00:02. I think I saw that in another post too. Seems to be working OK though.
#asus rt-ac5300
sleep 3
#turn off 2.4ghz white led
wl -i eth1 leddc 1
sleep 3
#turn off 5ghz-1 white led
wl -i eth2 leddc 1
sleep 3
#turn off 5ghz-2 white led
wl -i eth3 leddc 1
sleep 10
#turn off red internet led
gpio disable 5
This is with kong 33010 8/8/17 build. Not sure about others. Enjoy!
Let us know how it goes. Do it before its out of the return policy. _________________ Please Fix The Following Bugs:

Brand new RT-AC5300 flashed with latest BS or Kong results in similar WAN MAC issues of 00:00:00:00:00:01. Anyone come up with a resolution?
Which latest BS and Kong firmware have you most recently installed realbbb? Are you still running into the issue? Are you still seeing the WAN MAC address issue?
Did you flash using the Asus recovery tool or web interface?
