I recently upgraded my Buffalo AirStation Extreme AC1750 with a Linksys WRT3200ACM. Speeds are great, when they work. Internet constantly dropped, USB ports randomly stopped working. Really not pleased. Am going to return it now.
I am looking for a DD-WRT capable router to replace it with. I have a 500/50 internet connection. I stream A LOT of media from personal devices, a lot of home networking stuff. I would also like to torrent from my router. I would prefer to keep it under $350.
I am taking a look at ASUS AC-5300, does anyone have any suggestions of a quality router that has pretty fast speeds, is REALLY STABLE, and can run DD-WRT? _________________ Netgear R7800
Netgear R7800 is as fast as the wrt3200, but have a Atheros IPQ processor with stable drivers.
Atheros is more stable than Broadcom? I remember there being a hardware acceleration (HW NAT) issue with some devices. Is this still a thing? My WRT3200ACM has VERY fast performance, 400mbps or so wireless, when it is working.
After some research I just picked up a R7800. My first Netgear. I was VERY disappointed with the WRT3200ACM. Attached storage would frequently become disconnected, Wireless internet connectivity would just drop (wifi still connected, just no internet). Only DD-WRT device that I was unsatisfied with. _________________ Netgear R7800
