How to install dd-wrt on TL-WA901ND v4 ?
I believe the TL-WA901ND v4 is a Wireless Access Point, not a router. It is not supported, and third party firmware is unlikely to enhance its capabilities, so just use it for what it is..
This turns it into a 941NDv6, which already has an official build on the ftp site (see my signature for links). I would suggest upgrading after you get dd-wrt on the router. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Atheros:
Netgear R7800 x3 - WDS AP / station, gateway, QoS
TP-Link Archer C7 v2 x2 - WDS Station
TP-Link TL-WDR3600 v1 - WDS Station
TP-Link 841nd v8 - NU
D-Link 615 C1/E3/I1 x 7 - 1 WDS station
D-Link 825 B1 - NU
D-Link 862L A1 x2 - WDS Station
Netgear WNDR3700v2 - NU
UBNT loco M2 x2 - airOS
Broadcom
Linksys EA6400 - Gateway, QoS
Asus N66U - AP
Netgear WNDR3700v3 - not used
MediaTek
UBNT EdgeRouter X - switch
Like I mentioned above, it should turn the router into a 941ND v6. Then you can use the webupgrade file for the 941ND v6. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Brainslayer is really slow at adding official support for routers he does not have physically. I believe it took almost a year for him to add support for the 941ND v6 and 940N v3, which are very similar to the 841ND v8. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I don't own this model. I never tested the files. Try the files above first. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

hello..I have a tplink wa901nd v4 device.
I want to do the ddwrt.
I am doing it to install open vpn.
Will I install the shared file?
I will show this file in the update location of the device. Is this enough?

First of all, please realize that the router you are planning to use for OpenVPN can only handle at max 20MiB/s download through the VPN, average is probably less than 10MiB/s. If you are OK with that, by all means proceed. Lack of RAM is the big reason, it only has 32MB of RAM.
As for flashing the file in the thread, you can try it but I have not tested it in any way, as I do not own this particular router. If you are wondering why I can estimate VPN speeds, CPU and RAM specs are a good indication of VPN speed.
As for flashing, try uploading it through the TP-Link GUI. If it works great if not, post something here. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

I have no access to the router. I'm attached to a wi-fi network. I want to deploy this network with a range expander. I want to do this with open vpn. is it possible? ie there is no router access. just by repeating the wireless network.
You will get more responses for a topic if it is posted in the correct sub-forum (you are using an Atheros based router). _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Hello everyone. I have done an update with unofficial file on https://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=287584 and everything working fine except WAN port which is for me crucial because I would like to use a device for a hotspot. Is there any way how I can turn WAN port to work?
