Hello all,
I tried to upgrade from 33413 to 33492.
It did not work via GUI.
I tried to upgrade via D-link Recovery mode (192.168.0.1). I even tried factory-to-dd-wrt, webupgrade, and even the factory firmware. None worked.
The Recovery page just says upgrading and stays like that for at least 20 min (I did not touch it for 20 min).
I can't seem to get tftp to work.
I have never been able to open this router.
I have serial, tftp, and even JTAG experience. I know how to debrick routers.
There should be screws under the top label. I once took apart one of the weird shaped d-link routers to do serial recovery. _________________ I am far from a guru, I'm barely a novice.

I have taken off the 3 screws on the bottom (under 3 of the 4 rubber feet) but I can't figure out how the thing comes apart or if there are more screws. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but while searching on how to install DD-WRT on a DIR-862L, found this one and thought I'd help.
The top of the unit does have to be removed as well - it's held in place by 4 plastic clips - it feels like its going to break (and probably will - I broke one clip) in order to open it up.
I ended up reviving it by TFTP and the mini-web server on the router itself. No need to hook up serial like I thought. _________________ Before asking a question on the forums, update dd-wrt: Where do I download firmware? I suggest reading it all.
