I just bought a new R6700V2 because my R7000 has been acting up, despite trying multiple methods to resolve it. Unfortunately, the firmware update on the new R6700V2 asks for a .IMG file as opposed to the .CHK file. Is this new V2 not supported (yet)? Can I just rename the file and attempt it? I'd hate to return this router. Unfortunately I didn't realize there was even a V2 until I received it.

The V2 is a MediaTek CPU not Broadcom.

And to note, still not supported, though broly was working on it. Last post was from August though, still a work-in-progress.

I filed request on Amazon for replacement and demanded a V1. They sent another V2. Amazon fail. Returning for refund and will scour eBay.

This is my idea, and I may be off but whatever...If you look at supported devices...https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices-----You will see the same spec is used in 2 dlink routers....DIR 878 and DIR 882....I do not know how to port DDWRT but maybe someone reading this can get this work....The DLINK DIR 882 uses the exact same chips as the r6700v2. DDWRT already has software written for the dir 882and also the 878--https://dd-wrt.com/support/router-database/?model=DIR-882_A1----https://dd-wrt.com/support/router-database/?model=DIR-878_A1---If someone knows how to make these work for the r6700v2 I would appreciate it. Thanks....

No need to ask in more than one place. It’s not supported and probably won’t be unless brainslayer or Kong get an actual unit.
