wzr-600dhp vs WZR-600DHP2

I noticed that the DHP2 firmware was last updated in 2014 while the DHP version was updated just last month this year. Anyone know why this is? Both have a very different chipset so I guess I cant simply whack the DHP firmware on the DHP2 model? It's AR7161 vs BCM4707.
