Hi,
Nothing seems to work I always go to the recovery page.
The router is under warranty so I don't want to open it.
I opened a Netgear support ticket I'll see what happens.
Thanks for your tips !
Nicolas
Aren’t you using a D-Link router? Why are you reporting the problem to Netgear?
The DIR-880L is quite easy to crack open and the serial jumpers are easy to solder.
Once you’ve setup serial console, you have the added benefit of being able to overclock your 880L past the 800Mhz clock speed. I’ve overclocked mine via the CFE console to 1000MHz and so far it seems stable. I cool the router using a cheap laptop base cooler just in case.

Last working build that was running on router is 30432. Seemed like all the builds after that bricked the router once applied. Given the WPA2 security stuff I gave 33555 a try. It worked up until I defined a WL1.1 with NAT and Net Isolation ... on apply of that it bricked. So close.
For those who don't need a guest network it might just work for you. I can't speak to that or whether it would prove to be stable because I have to have the WL1.1 for network security reasons. Good FYI for anyone in case though.
Have gone back to 30432 for now.
Edit: in case handy here is boot brick point

All builds released after r30432 downloaded from the dd-wrt website will send the 868L and the 880L into an infinite boot loop.
You have to use my builds for your 880L. Mine has been stable so far. 2 days uptime, but that’s because I reboot it to test out stuffs. I think it will stay up and functional if I don’t reboot it.

Nope to infinite loop. The behavior was not the same as past builds that did brick the 880L. I've been watching your posts regarding the drivers. I was actually expecting that behavior based on your posts, which is why I had the serial hooked up to watch it. But it didn't fail and came up and worked. It worked after the following changes as well:
WAN MAC change
IP schema change
5Ghz radio disabled
2.4Ghz radio WPA2 enabled and configured
I understand you have offered your own builds but trust is an issue with a lack of history. For now I dunno.

Interesting that you are able to load the builds from the dd-wrt websites past r30432. I have to admit that I do not have the source codes for the Broadcom drivers to check, but from what I can observe from my router's console logs, the Linux kernel always panicked when it tries to load either the wireless driver or the ethernet drivers.
From the console logs you have posted, it looks like the Linux kernel partition is corrupted. The CFE bootloader is unable to find a valid kernel image to boot. I believe the root cause should be the same as the infinite boot loop, i.e. it should be caused by the commit at r30468.
Somehow, the 'nobackup = 1;' line added for the 868L and 880L router model initialization path is causing the problem, bricking both router models.
Anyway, I'm guessing here as I do not have the source codes for the Broadcom drivers to dig thru, so I can only try workaround methods.

NOTE: 33555 is the only version past 30432 that I have tried (that didn't brick right away). The 880L hardware version is A1.
I can confirm that the wireless radios were running and devices were connecting successfully to the 2.4Ghz radio.
I can't help with C code. C# is the closest I ever want to be.

Hello, I can confirm functionality, on the DIR880L A1, I've done a few restarts, shutdown and power on and the router has always started to work. Great work, thanks.
I'm just missing the transmission.

Hi, after 10 days of using fw 33679 I can confirm the functionality. In the first five days, I did one-time restarts, a few switch-on and switch-on, and the DIR880LA1 router works according to my rebuilding.
Some experience: after updating from 30432 I did not make factory defaults - this is wrong router behaved strangely lost WAN connection, 5GHz WiFi lost connection, 5GHz setting book was lost after twelve hours.
Deleting the NVRAM and re-entering the settings manually is OK.
I already posted this in the 868 thread, but from reading the svn timeline, supposedly the New BS build r34311 12-29-17 will now work on the 868L and 880L.
This is true when migrating from D-Link OEM FW to DD-WRT FW. Users should be able to migrate directly to this new version without having to use an older version of WRT.

I updated my routers (Dlink-DIR880L and DIR-860L B1) without perfoming a reset from r30342 (Dir880L) and r31544 (DIR860 B1) to r34311 without any problems and both routers survived multiple reboot tests.
It seems, the problem of bricked DIR880L has been solved, as well as the problem of not correct booting of DIR 860 B1.
